AusSeabed Survey Coordination Tool

AusSeabed Survey Coordination Tool

The AusSeabed Survey Coordination Tool (SCT) functions at the time of writing are:

  1. To provide a data entry point for upcoming surveys to support collaboration and coordination

  2. To provide a data entry point for areas of interest for seabed mapping and biodiversity characterisation data

  3. To support the submission of survey requests to the Australian Hydrographic office.

The SCT does this by providing users with 3 record types they can enter, all of which are underpinned by a basic data management workflow. These records are:

  1. The Survey Plan record - a short form that allows for users to enter who, what, where and when relating to their survey and publish it directly to the AusSeabed Data Portal under the upcoming surveys layer.

  2. The Area of Interest record - a multi-step form that allows users to enter in all survey areas of interest that have been prioritised by their organisation, and publish these directly to the AusSeabed Data Portal under the Areas of Interest layer.

  3. The Request record - a comprehensive set of data entry forms that meets the Australian Hydrographic Office’s needs regarding a request for survey. Request records and emailed to the AHO, and uploaded into their own prioritisation system.
