Receipt Assessment

The assessment step of the quality framework should focus on the collection of information that accompanies the data submission. Elements of completeness and logical consistency are all assessed.

Further to cursory assessments made against technical quality elements, the following items should be examined and recorded:

  • Scope of the data, including coverage, geographical information

  • Purpose for the data, including requirements, area of interest etc

  • Information relating to the instrumentation used to collect the data, including methodology

  • Information relating to the file structure, record count and overall size

  • Supplier information, including supplier contact and owner, organisation responsible for the collection and any stakeholder information relevant to the collection of the data
