AusSeabed Data Types

Through the delivery of the Data Hub, AusSeabed will facilitate access to a range of seabed information associated with its identified product suites. The data types, listed in order of priority, are:

  1. Bathymetry data

  2. Backscatter (seafloor and water column) data

  3. Sediment sample data

  4. Sub-bottom profile data

Each data type will have an associated product suite, all of which will be stored, managed and delivered through the AusSeabed data hub. At this time, the AusSeabed Data Hub is accepting bathymetry data, with the subsequent data types to come online at a later date.

At this time, AusSeabed is accepting bathymetry data according to the following table:

Data Requirements

Required Metadata for Submission

L0

L0 – Raw Data

L0 data is native format, as recorded by the sensor. It should include all necessary datagrams required for a comprehensive bathymetry and backscatter processing, including raw backscatter per beam (BA) and raw backscatter in time series (TS), and all required ancillary data. Water column data if collected should be stored in a separate file.

·   MBES proprietary format e.g. *. all for Kongsberg, *.s7k for Reson and *.gsf (possibly .XTF) for all other MBES system including R2Sonic

· WC over wrecks (*.wcd)

·   Applanix POSMV or proprietary format of any aux sensor used e.g. TerraPos, Starfix etc

L1

L1 – Georeferenced Point Data - uncleaned

L1 Data is raw data processed to form a georeferenced bathymetric point cloud with no cleaning

Nil

L2

L2 – Georeferenced Point Data – Fully Cleaned

L2 data will be cleaned relative to the CUBE Surface.

·  MBES: HDCS (LAT) plus backscatter

·  SVP: *.svp or *.asvp or *.txt (of those used to produce L2)

·  Tide: *.tid or (*.zdf & *.tid)

·  Navigation SBET

L3 v.0

L3 Gridded Final Survey Product data

L3 is the delivered Final Survey Data for a survey. L3 will be a CSAR CUBE / SDTP surface, which will include density and uncertainty.

L3 v.1

L4 – Verified Final Survey Data

L4 Data is the final Survey Surface that is verified and accepted by the contributing organisation.

·  BAG single-resolution (MSL)

  • Csar (MSL)

  • BAG multi-resolution  (MSL)

  • 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF (.tiff)  for bathy and backscatter (see specs below)
