The minimum requirement for a survey geometry/shape is a bounding box, although it is recognised that this is not an effective definition for extensive or complex surveys. The preference is that additional shapes are also provided as shapefiles or in Well Known Text (WKT) formats. These could include a line shape for Ship Tracks, a polygon definition for Swaths, a polygon boundary that encompasses a gridded product resulting from the data.

In the future, AusSeabed will be providing a services that allows the data owner to profile the owning organisations details initially, and simply supplementing it at the survey level (eg supplementing with additional lead scientists or authors).

The minimum requirement for a survey geometry/shape is a bounding box, although it is recognised that this is not an effective definition for extensive or complex surveys.
