The authority to distribute manage form must be completed for every dataset submission that is provided to Geoscience Australia for publication. The form can be used to name multiple datasets as long as the signatory has the authority to licence them to GA for distribution. If a different signatory is required, then a new authority to distribute form will need to be completed. management.

Geoscience Australia has a robust and secure data management architecture and a long history of storing precompetitive data for the offshore exploration industries. As part of taking carriage of this data, it is important that GA is responsible and responsive to any licence constraints the data provider has requested, however it is also important that GA is managing the data for the benefit of the Australian Federal Government and the community it serves.

The following statements have been designed as acknowledgements to protect the rights of the data provider and GA’s investment as an Australian Federal government entity. The statements seek to cover:

Usage Constraints

  •  Geoscience Australia staff will be permitted to access the provided data for internal use in compilation products. Individual data products will not be reproduced in part or full unless permissible under agreed licence conditions.
  •  Geoscience Australia will provide relevant data to other Federal Government departments for development of policy and regulations to administer the Offshore Electricity and Infrastructure Act 2021.

Access Constraints (Details of any constraints that are not determined under the licence constraints regarding the access to the information being provided. Access constraints are applied to assure the protection of privacy or intellectual property and any special restrictions or limitations on obtaining the resource or metadata.   •  Geoscience Australia staff will be permitted to access the provided data for internal use.
  •  Geoscience Australia will respond to any relevant Freedom of Information Act enquiries in line with both the legislation and any legally relevant licence conditions.

Distribution Constraints

  •  Geoscience Australia will provide bathymetry data provided to the Australian Hydrographic Office for inclusion in hydrographic charting to facilitate safety of navigation at sea.
  •  Geoscience Australia will provide relevant data to other Federal Government departments for development of policy and regulations to administer the Offshore Electricity and Infrastructure Act 2021.
  •  Geoscience Australia will provide bathymetry data and any other provided data into relevant global archives (eg GEBCO) in line with any defined licence conditions (for example, when the licence states that the data may be distributed openly to all).

Geoscience Australia Ongoing Storage Commitment

  •  Geoscience Australia will store the provided data in their managed, secure data storage architecture while the data is being utilised for the development of policy and regulations to administer the Offshore Electricity and Infrastructure Act 2021.
  •  Geoscience Australia reserves the right to delete the data from managed storage services should the data no longer be required to be stored.

Copyright recognition

  •  Geoscience Australia will recognise any legally relevant copyright applied to the information being provided.
