The home page consists of a menu frame on the left and a card system menu for selecting key components.

Menus

The menus on the left-hand frame provide complete access to all components of the application.

  • The User Profile menu exists to ensure that if your organisation is not registered with you user account, it can be updated. This is only required once. It will also confirm your Role Profile.

  • My Submissions provide access to Contribitors to create and modify metadata

  • The Add Lookup Values menu provides a mechanism for the inclusion of additional values. The status of these additional values are Draft and only available to the user creating them. Once moderated and accepted by a Seabed Data Manager they will become available to all users.

  • The Reports menu provides access to three standard reports:

  1. All Submitted and Approved records of all Types (excluding Contributing Hubs)

  2. All Submitted and Approved Contributing Hub Records

  3. A Workflow Dashboard for all records of all Types (excluding Contributing Hubs).

The workflow dashboard will identify records from Draft through to Publication on the Portal, enabling any user to see the progress throughout its lifecycle.

  • The Data Management menu is only available to user wit the MDR Data Management role. This menu provides back-office functions for Receipting, QA & Approval, Registration, Product Creation, Web Services Linking and a range of other capabilities.

  • The Administration menu is only available to user with the MDR Administrator role. This menu provides access to applications and interface customisations and functions, User Management & Access Control, Feedback management and some standard statistics.

  • The Help menu provides access to all users to a Support Contacts page, this User Guide and a Glossary of Terms.

Cards

  • My Metadata card is for registering the metadata for Data Acquisitions/Surveys, Compilations., Reference Surfaces, Crowd-sourced Bathymetry

  • My Contributing Hub Services card allows Contributing Hubs like the CSIRO, Australian Antarctic Division and others to submit standardised metadata that allows the simple integration of their services to be displayed in the Marine Data Portal

  • The Workflow Dashboard card provides a simple traffic light report of all records entered into the MDR regardless of status ie DRAFt or Approved allowing users to monitor the progress from receipt to publication.

  • The Public Register card will generate a report of all QA approved records and allow users to query, filter, sort and export records in standard formats.

  • My Contributing Hub Services card will generate a report of all the metadata submitted to Geoscience Australia, some of which specifically addresses the integration with the Marine Data Portal.

  • Lookups Management card is also controlled via Roles with Data Contributors able to add new values and Data Managers able to moderate and accept these values, making them available to all users.

  • The Administraton card provides access to users with an Administrator role to a range of Application, Interface and User Management capabilities.
