Becoming a Contributing Data Partner to the GA Contributing Hub

Contributing Data Partner Submission

All contributing data partners will be required to complete a becoming a contributing data partner form prior to data submission. All data submitted must be as per the table Appendix A GA Contributing Hub Data Submission Requirements and the data being submitted will be assessed as per the contributing data partner assessment outlined below.

Contributing Data Partner Assessment

The contributing data partner assessment is a process internal to the AusSeabed Data Hub that is undertaken on a regular basis in order to keep a handle on the new, incoming data storage requirements and associated costs.

Contributing data partners are split into two categories:

  1. Those who wish to have an ongoing data submission relationship with the AusSeabed Data Hub, and

  2. Those who intend to make a single submission.

All incoming data must be assessed prior to it being added to the AusSeabed Data Hub and processed fully into the GA contributing hub AWS environment. Outlined below is a monthly process:

At any given point in time, the result of this process will be:

  1. A small amount of data that is stored in our clearing house for a month or less, that will be assessed in the above process and may or may not persist in the data warehouse post review

  2. A list of potential data submissions that will be answered within the month.

Internal Administrative Requirements

Once a dataset is to be included in the GA contributing hub the following processes will be undertaken:

  1. The survey(s) will be prioritised and added to the AusSeabed Data Hub Publication Schedule

  2. The organisation(s) will be added to eCat (if they don’t exist already)

    1. Draft eCat records will be prepared for the data in advance of publication

  3. The GA contributing hub has budgeted for storage and growth over the coming year. Any significant increases in data submissions that could potentially exceed this budget will be determined during the monthly assessment and escalated to Branch head/Chief of Division as needed.

  4. Update to all other AusSeabed components where the survey may have been recorded and published (eg the survey coordination tool)
