Legal Constraints - This mandatory field requires a CC BY license if AusSeabed is asked to publish either the metadata and/or data. However, if the user is planning only to create a standard metadata record for their own purposes or for the submission to other entities, additional licenses can be included by contacting the Support Contacts.

Access Constraints - This field has a default value but can be modified as long as the field is not left null.

User Constraints - This field has a default value but can be added to using free text.

Keywords - Keywords contains default values and is controlled by a Lookup table. The default values can be removed and replaced or left null. However the default values will be re-added if the record relates to a AusSeabed publication.

One of the following checkboxes must be selected to enable the Submission process. However, if the user is planning only to create a standard metadata record for their own purposes or for the submission to other entities, the record can be saved, and printed or exported without the final Submission process.

Authority to publish the Metadata checkbox - Selecting this check boxes acknowledges the user's authority to supply the metadata under the agreed license for the publication on the AusSeabed Marine Data Portal

If you choose not to provide any Authorities, you can save, print and export your metadata, however it will not be Submitted to the AusSeabed Data Hub or made available to the broader Marine Community.

To provide additional evidence for an Authority to Publish, please use the File Upload fields. Additionally. the File upload fields can be used to supply additional metadata or metadata in alternate formats or any other documentation.

File upload

File type - File types are controlled by a Lookup Table and restricted to the following:

  • Additional Metadata

  • Authority to distribute

  • Data Owner authorisation

  • Other

Choose File - Navigate to a document preferably in a Microsoft, Google or Adobe format.

Reminder that the small red triangle (blue star) in the top left corner of the field indicates the item is Mandatory to complete a submission (validation of these mandatory rules only occurs when the user is ready to Submit the metadata).
