Versioning is handled within the Teams document store, however if filenames require numbering the preference is to use v0.n for Draft versions and v1.n for version 1 documents and iterations and v2.n for later versions etc.
e.g StrategyDocument_v0.1
If you use versioning in filenames, it will ALWAYS be assumed that the higher the number the more recent the update and that the highest number is the latest and current version. Editing of previous versions is discouraged, copy and paste instead, into a higher version or create a new document.
