The data hub is being developed as a multi-component suite of services that are underpinned by a federated data storage model, with each connected data store being referred to as a “local hub”. At the time of writing, there are two local hubs under development, one at GA and one at CSIRO. 

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance regarding the process of standing up a ASB Local Hub, and how to connect a local hub into the GA Local Hub. 

Local Hub Governance Arrangements

A local hub must have the following governance arrangements in place to meet ongoing operational requirements:

  • Binding or non-binding agreement between AusSeabed (as represented by GA) and the local hub that describes partnership arrangements

  • Nominated primary non-technical contact: a person that is responsible for the maintenance of the local hub. That is, someone who is identified as responsible for managing the institutions ongoing operational costs and archival commitments associated with the local hub.

  • Nominated primary and secondary technical contact: a person(s) that is responsible for ensuring that services provided by the local hub are working and operational.
